Last year SRAM managed to step onto the playing field of groupset manufacturers at eye level with the two main competitors, not least due to some real innovations. As training with power meters gets more and more popular in the last years, companies also try to come up with innovations to get their share of the market.
CinQo
One of these companies is Quarq Technology Inc., which recently announced a new power meter to the cycle addicts. It consists of a power sensor named CinQo, which utilizes strain gages in the crankset spider to measure power output. The head unit, which displays all the collected data is called Qranium. So far nothing new, but to make a long story short, when having a look at the details, some unique, innovative product attributes come up:

- Complete wireless transmission
- Open source software
- GPS integrated into the headunit
- Calculates popular Cyclingpeaks figures and displays them ( NP, TTS, IF )

Qranium

With the information provided, the system seems to be a mixture of Garmin´s EDGE with a SRM power meter. The price is unknown so far, market release is targeted to be earliest in December 2007. At Interbike in September, it will be presented to the public.
