Racing Light XLR
Fulcrum Racing Light XLR wheels are the evolution of Racing Light carbon fibre low profile wheels. For the 2009 season Fulcrum introduces new hubs with oversize carbon fibre bodies and aluminium flanges to reduce the weight and increase the reactivity of the wheels. Taking advantage of the design of the new wheels, Fulcrum has also increased the flange diameter on the sprocket set side up to 78 mm to exalt the response characteristics of the Racing Light XLR when climbing and accelerating. The improvements to the hubs don’t stop here: smoothness has made an enormous leap forward with the new ceramic bearings with CULT technology developed by Fulcrum (see product table on page 7).
Fulcrum has also worked on the braking, no longer the downside of carbon fibre wheels. After years of studies, Fulcrum has developed its compound for carbon fibre which produces powerful progressive braking in exactly the same way as on aluminium in dry conditions and slightly less immediate in wet conditions, i.e. when the first turn of the pad is inevitably for removing the film of water from the rim. The new pads are compatible with tubular and clincher tyre Racing Light XLR wheels.
Racing Light XLR wheels have also been renewed from the graphic viewpoint. The graphics is now coordinated with the new Racing Speed XLR wheels.

Racing Speed XLR
Fulcrum Racing Speed XLR wheels are the evolution of Racing Speed carbon fibre high profile wheels. For the 2009 season, Fulcrum is targeting reactivity and lightness with the introduction of new hubs with oversize carbon fibre bodies and aluminium flanges. Taking advantage of the design of the new wheels, Fulcrum has also increased the flange diameter on the sprocket set side up to 78 mm to exalt the characteristics of the Racing Speed XLR in terms of speedy response and acceleration. But the improvements to the hubs don’t stop here: the smoothness of these high profile wheels has made an enormous leap forward with the new ceramic bearings with CULT technology developed by Fulcrum.

Racing Chrono XLR
The Racing Chrono XLR is the evolution of the time trial racing wheel used by the champions of the Pro Tour Liquigas, Lampre and Cofidis teams. The structure of the wheel remains the same as its performance is a long way from being surpassed and the improvement regards the bearings which are now ceramic and employ the CULT technology developed by Fulcrum and which provides unmatchable performance in terms of smoothness and resistance to corrosive phenomena.
Racing Chrono XLR wheels have also changed their look with attractive new 3D graphics, all to be discovered in time trials.

Fulcrum enters the Tubeless world with two models: Racing Zero 2-Way Fit and Racing1 2-Way Fit. The tests carried out on Tubeless tyres along with Hutchinson led Fulcrum to press forward with the project decisively, convinced that Tubeless tyres constitute the future for road cycling tyres.
Even if the features highlighted by Hutchinson in its release (Comfort, Resistance to snakebites and Safety if punctured) are already sufficient to justify their introduction, what really convinced Fulcrum is the increased performance in terms of rolling. Thanks to Tubeless tyres, the same model of Fulcrum wheel increases in rolling capacity by 31 percent … an enormous value. In laboratory tests comparing a Racing Zero clincher tyre and a Racing Zero 2-Way Fit, it was found that when both wheels were taken to 40 km/h the former decelerated to 0 km/h in 160 and the latter in 210 m. This is a difference that cannot be ignored in racing.
Fulcrum also knows that tubeless types are still very rare at the moment and that there is a lot of diffidence about the project. For this reason, it decided not to impose tubeless at all costs, but instead to offer its customers a less definitive choice with its 2-Way Fit wheels. 2-Way Fit wheels have a rim section which make it possible to fit both tubeless and classic clincher tyres. As a result, Fulcrum users will be able to personally assess which of the two solutions they are happier with or to use clincher tyres for everyday training and tubeless ones on the day of the race.
Racing Zero 2-Way Fit and Racing1 2-Way Fit incorporate changes compared with standard versions for clinchers. The rims are now differentiated, 24 mm for the front wheel and 28 mm for the rear. Thanks to this change, the weight of the front rim has been reduced while the rear one transmits the cyclist’s power more effectively.
For now, Fulcrum 2-Way Fit wheels will only be compatible with Hutchinson tubeless tyres.

New Racing Torq RRS Crankset

Fulcrum introduces its new Racing Torq RRS crankset model which positions itself at the top of the Fulcrum crankset range. Racing Torq cranksets, introduced last year, are appreciated by users for their manufacturing quality, the resistance to torsion and bending stress of the Ultra-Torque system, their ability to transmit the cyclist’s power, the ease of assembly and the ergonomics designed for maintaining an optimal space between the ankle and crank. Racing Torq RRS raises these qualities to a level of excellence, adding CULT ceramic bearings (see table on page 7) and new anodization of the chainrings which considerably increases resistance to wear.
